I am Jacquelyn Morris-Smith, an RN by profession, a quilter (now my home business profession), and a Certified Zentangle Teacher (CZT), which I am beginning to use in my quilting. I have been sewing since I was 11 or 12, making my own clothing, and a lot of hand embroidery. During my “young mother years”, as a mother of 6, I sewed clothing for them as well as utility quilts to keep the family warm.
In 2006 my husband, Bill and I moved into a smaller home. Bill and I have 18 grand-children between the two of us, and as you can imagine, having all the family photos on display would be wall to wall frames. So I ventured into a local quilt shop, where I eventually took a part-time job, and asked for some help and guidelines. My idea was to build a family wall quilt in which I could have open areas to replace photos as I received updated family photos. I hired a quilt teacher, who is now one of my dearest friends. The Family Fun Wall Quilt is hanging in my entry hall. I love it and although it isn’t well done (remember I didn’t really know that much at the time), I love seeing my first quilt. This project Spurred my Love of the ART of Quilting. This new passion led me to teaching at local quilt shops- private and group classes, entering quilts into shows, and learning everything I could in all mediums of art. I now spend time designing, teaching, and traveling to fun places.
